The project aims at the restoration and adaptive reuse of the “Villa Mater – Riccardo De Angeli” complex in Rivoli, transforming it into a “collaborative residence for longevity”: a new form of housing for people over 60 who choose to share the progression of time within a stimulating and community-oriented environment. The project builds on themes related to mitigating vulnerability and loneliness associated with aging, proposing a new cultural and social hub. The design is guided by three key architectural and planning gestures: opening the park to the community in order to foster exchange with the city, through three large entrances leading to three public squares; the construction of a new building to accommodate shared spaces and private apartments; and the integration of the redevelopment of the complex into a broader social engagement strategy, based on collaboration agreements capable of involving both residents and the wider local community.
