About:

The project, developed following a two-stage international competition, proposes the regeneration of the Cavallerizza Reale complex as a new cultural and civic hub, returning a strategic portion of Turin’s historic center to the city. The site’s historical layering is embraced as a design value, interpreted through a system of open spaces, thresholds, and passages capable of reconnecting courtyards, squares, and internal routes with the urban fabric. The intervention focuses on ground permeability, the opening of new entrances, and the creation of horizontal and vertical devices that redefine the image and accessibility of the complex. The concept of heritage is extended to its social dimension, transforming a historically introverted architecture into a porous, accessible public platform active 24/7. The project combines transformation, the use of voids, and critical restoration, establishing a balance between memory, new urban landmarks, and contemporary cultural practices.
